Tenchi Security acquires BlueOps

BlueOps, a training and consulting company, was acquired today by Tenchi Security, a cloud security company. Its services and will be incorporated into the Tenchi Seurity portfolio of cloud centric security services.

The (ISC)2 2019 Cloud Security Report shows that the lack of internal expertise and training of internal teams is perceived by survey respondents as the greatest barrier for the adoption of cloud security tools at enterprises, as indicated by 41% of responses. It also shows that training and certification of internal staff are the top corrective measures companies are planning to adopt, with 51% of responses.

This is a clear sign that the learning curve of cloud technologies is presenting a serious challenge presented to organizations and teams used to operating and securing on-premises environments. There is a staggering number of cloud security incidents caused by misconfigurations, which could have been avoided or at least mitigated by properly trained development, IT and security teams.

"We are seeing a strong market demand for services geared towards security monitoring and incident response in cloud environments", says Alexandre Sieira. He continues "the intellectual property and amazing talent we are bringing in as part of this acquisition will be essential in meeting this demand with the desired level of quality".

BlueOps was founded in 2017 by Rodrigo Monto and Felipe Espósito, experienced security professionals and researchers with an international profile. Their aim was to create quality content and provide training in the area of defensive information security. Both Montoro and Espósito will join the Tenchi Security team after the acquisition, leading cloud security research and training activities.

He is a founder of the HackerMakerSpace in Rio de Janeiro and presented at respected conferences such as Hackers 2 Hackers Conference, BHACK, BSides (Las Vegas and São Paulo), FISL, Latinoware, and SANS SIEM Summit.

Rodrigo Montoro has over eighteen years of experience in the information security and technology markets. Most of his work has been focused on endpoint security monitoring and hardening, network security monitoring and threat detection. He is the inventor of two patents related to techniques for the detection of malicious documents and traffic. He co-founded and coordinated the rules writing activities of the Brazilian community for Snort, a widely-used open-source tool for networking intrusion detection. Montoro is also an accomplished international lecturer, having present at respected conferences such as OWASP AppSec (US and Brazil), SANS DFIR Summit and SIEM Summit, Toorcon, Hackers 2 Hackers Conference (São Paulo and Mexico), SecTor, Mind The Sec, Roadsec, FISL, SOURCE (Boston a Seattle), ZonCon, BlackHat (São Paulo), BSides (Las Vegas and São Paulo). His professional experience includes several highly respected Brazilian information security companies, and also Sucuri Security and Trustwave Spiderlabs.

Besides having a healthy customer base in the region and having trained hundreds of students, BlueOps and their team have international credibility. BlueOps was accepted to deliver training sessions at well-respected events such as the 2017 and 2018 editions BSides Las Vegas. In Brazil, they also delivered trainings at RoadSec São Paulo. Additionally, the team is responsible since 2018 for the defensive capture the flag competition (BlueWars) of the Hackers 2 Hackers Conference.
